I'm having the very same problem as ieag (see below). A lot of people here are trying to get this crap running in Windows 8. Hell, I'd be happy to get it to run on Windows 7 (which it did before your miserable update). All of intel's answers are bogus and do not work. I'm using an Alienware m14x, bought it with intel widi in it. It worked just fine until intel's driver update... and now - no widi. I too, want to know when intel is going to fix this problem. I have an investment in equipment dependent on widi and thanks to a totally unnecessary update (downdate?) I can't use any of it. And btw, DO NOT TELL ME TO RE-INSTALL THE ORIGINAL DRIVERS because that DOES NOT WORK EITHER!!!
Get this fixed intel.
This platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi
Since this is a new problem that essentially disables WiDi this thread is posted for help by Intel.
As posted in the other thread:
http://communities.intel.com/message/190685#190685
Trying to correct the: "There are no adapters detected." problem resulted in the: "The platform is not compatible with Intel widi" problem, when widi was working fine before Intel's latest updates.
Now, how do we PERMANENTLY CORRECT this, Intel???
Usually the solution to this issue (The platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi) is installing the software/driver versions provided by the computer manufacturer as they are specifically designed for the hardware in your system model.
Please note that the thread you mentioned already has a response about the issue.
